Nancy Allen

Executive Director

Nancy Allen began her career in non-profit when close friend Wendie Jo Sperber was diagnosed with cancer. When both Wendie realized there was no place for cancer patients and their families to seek help with the emotional and physical effects of the disease, Wendie Jo decided to start her own cancer support center with Nancy’s help.

When WeSPARK opened its doors in 2001, Nancy served as Program Director. Support groups were a good start. Following extensive research, Nancy became aware of a wide variety of modalities that could be helpful in the recovery process. WeSPARK programs began to take shape offering a novel selection of classes ranging from yoga and Reiki to Qi Gong and hypnotherapy. This approach to improving the quality of life for persons with a cancer diagnosis was innovative for its time and put WeSPARK on the map.

In 2010, Nancy was named Executive Director of WeSPARK, which now serves over 1500 individuals annually with more than 45 programs and services offered weekly, all free of charge to patients and their families.
