Have you met Terry Littlefield, our Yoga Tune-Up Therapy Workshop instructor? She will be leading our upcoming Yoga Tune-up Workshop this Saturday, March 18 at 4:30 PM! This free workshop is open to cancer patients, survivors and their loved ones.  From the soles of your feet to the crown of your head and everywhere in between, this workshop will allow you to explore all the micro-regions of your body with Yoga Tune-Up® therapy balls  and remove tension from your joints and tissues. This full-body rolling session is followed by a guided, focused breathing meditation which will allow you to experience a state of deep, conscious relaxation. Contact us today to register.

Tell us about your experience with weSPARK. What led you to our facility and how can your work help benefit individuals dealing with a cancer diagnosis in the Los Angeles area?

Casey reached out to me and I was beyond thrilled to share my teachings with such an amazing organization.  I hope to provide individuals some much needed space for self care and encourage moments of joy through moments of movement.

Tell us about yourself and the work that you do. What inspired you to become a yoga instructor?

I was born and raised in Maine.  I try to visit home yearly.  Maine reminds me of yoga in that it provides space and time for breathing and healing.  My practice has been so helpful in the chaos that is sometimes LA.  I’m always learning and I love to share what I learn; yoga, movement, play, meditation, breath, all of it.   I was inspired to become a yoga teacher to escape teaching court reporting, which I did for 17 years.  It was a great escape!  I never look back except in downward facing dog pose.

You are facilitating a weSPARK Yoga Tune-Up Workshop on Saturday, March 18 at 4:30 PM. Can you guide us through a typical therapy ball workshop?

Each therapy ball workshop is unique based on the students in front of me.  The goal is a self massage exploration of the whole body and a deeply restful guided meditation/savasana at the end of the workshop.

What are the benefits of using Yoga Tune-Up Therapy balls?

The therapy balls are grippy, grabby, pliable and made for the body’s tissues.  They are also portable so you can take your new-found self massage skills anywhere you go.  They are very soothing and it is empowering to be able to control the issues in your tissues.

What inspires you?

Seeing people incorporate a yoga practice, not a yoga perfect into their lives on a regular basis.  Also, play, creativity, learning, music and travel, not necessarily in that order.

How do you practice self-care?

Restorative yoga, therapy ball self massage and breath work.  Those are three of my favorite self-care practices.  Oh, and legs up the wall.  If I only have time for one thing, it’s legs up the wall.
