weSPARK Cancer Support Center offers 14 weekly support groups for cancer patients, survivors and their loved ones.  These groups provide a safe space for those navigating the challenging path of treatment, post-treatment, recovery, care-giving and grief.

In September of 2016 our Operations and Guest Manager Carlin Bell noticed an overwhelming trend in the population we serve. 40% of our guests had a breast cancer diagnosis.  Carlin suggested that we develop a group specifically tailored to the needs of women with a breast cancer diagnosis which was inclusive of those recently diagnosed all the way through survivorship.  We launched this group the first week in October in alignment with breast cancer awareness month.   In just 5 months we have served 32 women with this group.

This powerful group of women meets every Tuesday at 12:15pm for 90 minutes to explore a wide range of topics directly associated with a breast cancer diagnosis.  Through our meetings we have developed strong bonds of sisterhood, supportive communication, resource sharing and fellowship!

The difference between comfort and nurture is this: if you have a plant that is sick because you keep it in a dark closet, and you say soothing words to it, that is comfort. If you take the plant out of the closet and put it in the sun, give it something to drink, and then talk to it, that is nurture.
